About the role
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs routine and emergency maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure optimal production efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machine tools, spinning lathes, ovens, overhead cranes, and various manufacturing equipment
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and electricity
- Assist outside contractors on overhaul, repair, facility improvements, and other projects
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulics, and production machines
- Read and follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
- Maintain shop by sweeping, mopping, and operating cleaning equipment
- Perform routine machine maintenance: filter changes, battery inspections, fluid inspections, etc.
- Perform seasonal building maintenance such as snow removal, painting, or trash pick-up
- Understand and follow lockout/tagout requirements
- Utilize, track, and update Maintenance Ticketing software
- Travel between facilities and part suppliers as required (mileage reimbursement provided)
- Accurately execute Process Control Sheets (PCS) and provide feedback when revisions are needed
- Assist Engineering with implementation, creation, and maintenance of PCS
- Document actions by completing production and quality logs as needed
- Explore opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)
- Train others by sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
- Complete job assignments as directed by Facilities or Manufacturing Manager
- Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as directed
Safety
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Comply with all company rules, including safety policy and federal, state, and local regulations
- Use personal protective equipment and devices as defined in PCS, Company Safety Policy, Job Safety Analysis, or Management direction
- Report all unsafe conditions, accidents, and injuries immediately to management
Housekeeping
- Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the Company
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Store and maintain tools, equipment, and gauges as defined by company standards
- Keep work area clean and organized to company standards
- Perform daily cleaning and sweeping of work area, tools, and equipment
- Empty trash and waste as needed
- Remove personal items from workstations
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Technician
- Basic understanding and interpretation of wiring diagrams, schematics, flow diagrams, etc.
- Forklift experience preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Capable of following directions and taking responsibility for production efficiency and quality
- Customer-focused: seek out, understand, and respond to internal and external customer needs
- Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly
- Proactively solve problems and contribute to continuous improvement
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust
- Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
Schedule
2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (includes shift differential)
Training provided on 1st shift.
