About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician II, you will perform more complex maintenance and repair tasks, operate machinery, and work independently or under limited supervision. This role involves handling a wider range of equipment and systems, troubleshooting, and mentoring Level 1 technicians and Machine Operators.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential functions of a Maintenance Technician I
  • Apply intermediate knowledge and skills in maintenance and repair tasks
  • Independently troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions
  • Perform complex repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical tests to identify problems and ensure proper functioning
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Collaborate with team members to develop maintenance strategies and schedules
  • Operate production-related machines
  • Train and mentor Level 1 technicians and all levels of Machine Operators
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and equipment
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to maintain continuity among work teams
  • Maintain good housekeeping by regularly cleaning work areas, machines, and equipment
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity
  • Maintain open and candid communication with supervisors on matters of importance
  • Adhere to company values, practices, policies, and procedures
  • Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Pipe fitting, pump repair, and plumbing repair experience
  • Mechanical knowledge of conveyors and material transfer equipment
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience with packaging equipment (case erectors, case sealers, palletizers)
  • Basic electrical knowledge with 110/220/480 volt power
  • General experience with building maintenance
  • Experience with liquid fill equipment

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to resolve practical problems
  • PC proficiency, including spreadsheets and reporting software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to understand written instructions and complete documentation
  • Logical troubleshooting and prioritization of production needs
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective communication with co-workers, team members, and internal/external customers
  • Ability to identify cost-reduction or productivity-improvement opportunities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs to retrieve stock items
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
  • Repetitive grasping with hands
  • Walking and/or standing up to 10-12 hours per day, 6 days per week if applicable
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and reaching following recommended standards

Environmental Conditions

  • Work in a manufacturing plant environment, including high, precarious, and confined spaces
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat
  • Loud noise levels
  • Potential exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
