Maintenance Technician I (Triad Park)

About the role

Forsyth County's Parks and Recreation Department seeks a part-time Maintenance Technician I to work outdoors at Triad Park. This position involves maintaining park grounds, interacting with park patrons, and providing information and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Perform general groundskeeping tasks: mowing, mulching, line trimming, backpack blowing, pruning, leaf and snow removal.
• Conduct trail maintenance and small repair projects: fencing, gravel spreading, picnic table repair, staining, and painting.
• Maintain public areas: shelters, restrooms (cleaning and restocking), grills, trash and pet waste stations.
• Lock/unlock park access gates and facilities as needed.
• Interact with park patrons: provide information, assist with facility rentals, and ensure guest needs are met.
• Support special events: assist with setup, cleanup, and parking on Memorial Day and Veterans Day prior, during, and after event festivities.
• Operate and maintain small maintenance equipment.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• One year experience in basic building or grounds maintenance work.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate small to medium motorized equipment.

• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment including chainsaws, mowers, weed eaters, and tractors.
• Proficiency in using commuters.
• Capable and willing to work in the elements (hot and cold weather).

Work Schedule: Friday - Monday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (April - October) Friday - Monday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm (November - March) (Schedules are subject to change as needed)
