Maintenance Technician I - (Nights)

About the role
In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886, support our food safety programs, and reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. The position focuses on maintaining and improving the reliability of plant equipment and machinery to support production, quality, and warehouse operations. You will uphold the company’s Mission, Motto, and Food Safety and Quality Statement.
Schedule
This position works a 10-hour rotating schedule, including weekends (every other) and potentially some holidays. Overtime may be required.
Responsibilities
- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and company sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain the department/facility in an audit-ready condition daily.
- Repair and maintain bearings, seals, lubrication systems, machine alignment, machine controls, and other complex systems.
- Apply knowledge to complex packaging and processing equipment.
- Train operators on basic mechanical adjustments and repairs.
- Understand, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Attend all required training sessions and continuously upgrade skills to stay current with technology.
- Report unsafe conditions or actions immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work in high places and complete overhead work.
- Demonstrated ability to use troubleshooting tools, including multimeters and current meters.
- Welding experience, including resistance, MIG, and TIG welding.
- Basic electrical skills, including troubleshooting motor control circuits and understanding electrical safety.
- Familiarity with CMMS and machine shop equipment.
- Ability to design, develop, document, and fabricate machine parts accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and teamwork.

- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions, procedures, and plans.
- Ability to write and complete checklists, documentation, and correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Strong judgment and ability to adapt to changing work duties and events.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and communicate verbally.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with moving equipment and machinery.
- Exposure to dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; must be willing to work in all weather conditions and at heights.
- Exposure to airborne particles and common wheat allergens.
- Noise levels typically require hearing protection.
