Maintenance Technician I

About the role

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Association Facility Manager and provides excellent maintenance service to the buildings and grounds at assigned YMCA locations. They must have a knowledge of effective maintenance techniques and routine preventive maintenance processes, and be able to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents to perform assigned and approved repairs.

This position may also support the Facilities Team in various projects, including aquatics, camp, custodial/housekeeping, and volunteer build events. The Maintenance Technician is accountable for consistently updating the approved system of records, reports, and inventory in assigned areas, and for updating, communicating, and closing out of all work orders and projects in the Facilities Management Software.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance processes, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, flooring, painting, plaster/sheetrock, and landscaping
• Support the Facilities Team in various projects, such as aquatics, camp, custodial/housekeeping, and volunteer build events
• Update and maintain the approved system of records, reports, and inventory in assigned areas
• Utilize maintenance and facility software program to update, communicate, and close out work orders and projects

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance and repairs
• Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA standards, emergency plans, maintenance management, and housekeeping
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Able to carry out written and oral instructions
• Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with members, staff, and volunteers
• Valid driving license, ability to drive YMCA vehicles, and reliable personal transportation
