ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule planned maintenance through cooperation with the operations team.
- Conduct related administrative tasks as necessary.
- Prioritize tasks related to maintenance, conduct safety briefings before projects, perform after action reviews following projects.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and related repairs on mobile and stationary engine driven equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and related repairs on stationary electrically driven equipment.
- Conduct reactive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs when equipment failures occur.
- Perform repairs and inspections on buildings and non-equipment assets. May include: Minor construction tasks, electrical repairs or installations, plumbing repairs, HVAC inspections and repairs, etc.
- Identify, source, and order parts required for repairs. This will be through established or new vendors, or through collaboration with other VMI locations.
- Identify, source, and schedule third party maintenance support through vendors and through collaboration with other VMI locations.
- Able to keep and maintain meticulous records of maintenance related inventory such as parts, machine operators’ manuals, repair/maintenance logs, inventory orders and replacement stock on hand.
- Create work orders, charge time to the work order, document equipment status and troubleshooting process, close work orders
- Perform additional tasks as required based on company needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience repairing large complex equipment used in one or more of the following: scrap metal processing, manufacturing, agriculture, heavy equipment.
- 2+ years of employment history as a maintenance professional and prioritizing maintenance tasks – short term and long-term operational needs.
- Verifiable experience in troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatic air systems, welding, plasma torching, industrial mechanical and medium low voltage electrical issues.
- Experienced in developing and maintaining a highly safety focused work environment.
- Able to work well in a team, no solo effect or division between Operations group and maintenance.
- Formal training in heavy equipment maintenance – accredited trade school Industrial Electrical or Mechanical certification, or associates degree in a related discipline – preferred, or comparable work experience.
- May need some own tools, but a large portion of necessary tools will be provided.
- Required to have computer knowledge and skills for use in platforms such as Microsoft, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Internet browsers, Coupa, Upkeep, IQ360, and any other required maintenance software platforms.
