About the role
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician I to join our team at our manufacturing facility located in Otay Mesa - San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing company as we expand our operations.
Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and production equipment to ensure reliability while keeping documentation and records up to date.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and perform timely repairs to restore equipment to operational conditions, minimizing production interruptions or downtime.
- Perform general maintenance tasks including basic lighting/electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting, and other related activities.
- Manage inventory of MRO’s and cleaning supplies.
- Research and obtain quotes for facility needs requiring outside vendors; communicate directly and coordinate activities with outside vendors as needed.
- Manage waste, coordinate the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste (e.g., solder, flux, oils, and wastewater) in accordance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Support and supervise janitorial tasks including cleaning restrooms, lunchroom, sweeping and mopping floors, and stocking paper products.
- Operate a variety of maintenance equipment including drills, gauges, hand and power tools, and forklift.
- Occasional driving to pick up materials to complete maintenance/repairs.
- Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner and the company complies with all Cal-OSHA regulations.
- Work on weekends and handle special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of facility maintenance experience and experience with complex electrical and mechanical production equipment, preferably SMT equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues to either complete or make recommendations for repair.
- Proficient in facility maintenance requirements with basic technical knowledge in mechanical, piping, HVAC, plumbing, maintenance planning and scheduling, preventative maintenance programs, and work order procedures on an electronic system.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills; highly organized and able to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; must be responsible and dependable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external individuals.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Basic working knowledge of MS Office (e.g., Outlook, Word) and electronic maintenance logs (strongly preferred but not required).
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and provide a current DMV driving record.
- Reliable auto with proof of insurance.
- Forklift experience.
Physical Conditions / Requirements
- Work mostly in a controlled indoor environment with some exposure to outdoor elements.
- Frequently requires standing, kneeling, stooping, and forward bending for extended periods, as well as handling objects with hands.
- Occasionally requires walking, reaching, climbing, grasping, pushing, talking, hearing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Vision requirements: Ability to visually see information in print and/or electronically.
- Hearing requirements: Ability to hear people over the telephone and in person; hear noise in surrounding areas (e.g., forklifts in warehouse) for safety purposes.

Pay
$25-$26 per hour, depending on experience.
