About the Role
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for building maintenance at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, a non-profit organization providing comprehensive mental health services in Los Angeles. The role involves knowledge of regulatory codes and standards, and duties may include plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, painting, and general building upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Director and/or Supervisor with orientation of new engineering employees and organization-wide orientation.
- Maintains operational knowledge of building, safety, and security systems.
- Drives to purchase and pick up materials and supplies as needed in a timely manner.
- Completes lock repairs and key duplication as required, including documentation.
- Performs routine building inspections as required or assigned.
- Completes documentation of routine inspections as required by engineering procedures on a timely basis.
- Completes data entry of work orders/requests in a timely manner.
- Gives clear, concise information to supervisor and co-workers on projects and maintenance requests.
- Performs quality repairs, refinishing, modifications to doors, walls, ceilings, windows, and floors.
- Performs quality repairs to or modifications to electrical systems.
- Performs quality repairs to or modifications to plumbing systems.
- Performs and/or assists in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting problems on HVAC or refrigeration systems.
- Demonstrates ability to operate emergency generator for emergency startup or testing, including generator documentation requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of regulatory policies and/or codes relating to engineering and environment of care responsibilities.
- Ability to ascertain information from plumbing, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
- Understanding of the maintenance requirements for facility equipment.
- Understanding of the basic elements of the AOA Environment of Care and Life Safety Code standards.
Qualifications
- Understand the basic functions of building/maintenance trades.
