About the role
The Maintenance Technician supports production throughput by installing, repairing, servicing, and monitoring CNC and other production machinery while ensuring OSHA compliance and promoting a safe, efficient workplace. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and improve throughput in a medical device manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Passion:
- Ensure safe and correct operation of all equipment and machinery in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
- Diagnose faulty equipment through observation, testing methods, and use of measuring instruments.
- Fabricate or modify parts for machine repairs and upgrades.
- Trustworthiness:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machinery, electrical systems, pneumatic tools, and hydraulic equipment.
- Drive Results:
- Drive results by installing and commissioning new production equipment to meet production demands and customer needs.
- Perform preventive maintenance, maintain up-to-date schedules and records, and take proactive steps to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Collaboration:
- Show togetherness by collaborating with CNC operators and engineers to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform general plant maintenance activities, including facility and safety system support.
Skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices to minimize equipment downtime.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work orders, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members, production staff, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Teams
- Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to OSHA and company policies.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, urgent repairs, and after-hours needs.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with CNC equipment.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs preferred.
- Background working in cleanroom, GMP, or ISO-certified environments desirable (if applicable to your industry).
Education
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical or college training preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Electrical, Welding, and/or OSHA Safety Training are a plus
Physical Demands
- Prolonged standing, walking, and movement within production and cleanroom environments may be required.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 20 lbs. independently; occasional lifting of heavier objects may be required with mechanical assistance or team lift.
- Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, and hearing protection as dictated by task and environment.
- Visual acuity sufficient to conduct detailed inspections of equipment and parts, read technical documentation, and view computer screens.
- Hearing ability sufficient to perceive alarms, equipment signals, and verbal instructions in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to bend, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions as necessary to access equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
Working Conditions
- Primarily based on the production floor with regular work in manufacturing and cleanroom environments.
- Standard schedule is Monday-Friday on first shift, with flexibility to support urgent maintenance needs or other operational demands.
- Frequent hands-on interaction with machinery, tools, equipment, and production materials.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
