Maintenance Technician I

About the role

This position is responsible for providing maintenance services to keep the facility buildings, grounds, and equipment in good repair, contributing to the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned work requests and preventative maintenance work orders as assigned by supervisor or department director, including but not limited to:
    • Appliance repair
    • Light carpentry work
    • Routine motor vehicle maintenance
    • Routine plumbing repair
    • Routine repairs on heating/air conditioning systems
    • Low voltage applications
    • Swimming pools
    • Fire alarms
  • Provide housekeeping services on occasion and as needed
  • Inspect facilities, systems, and components to ensure safety, cleanliness, and identify necessary repairs
  • Use a variety of hand tools, small power tools, and other power tools
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure availability in safe operating condition
  • Perform general labor and assist with event set-ups, deliveries, and moves
  • Troubleshoot building and equipment issues as they arise
  • Learn and expand trade knowledge of maintenance and facilities
  • Assist other maintenance staff as needed
  • Be available for inclusion in the on-call schedule

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

  • Basic skill knowledge of machinery, equipment, and systems within the field
  • Ability to diagnose and repair various equipment
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to problem solve and work in a team
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and communicate

Physical Requirements

  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to operate various equipment based on department and weather conditions
  • Engage in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers
  • Clarity of vision:
    • Near visual acuity at approximately 20 inches or less (e.g., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers
    • Far visual acuity at 20 feet or more, including the ability to recognize features
    • Peripheral vision to observe an area up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point

Pay

$14.44 - $18.80 per hour
