Maintenance Technician - General - 26/27 SY

Maintains and repairs

• Maintains and repairs electrical, plumbing, and mechanical areas of the building
• Inspects, tests and analyzes malfunctions of equipment and systems
• Troubleshoots, dismantles, remodels, repairs, reassembles and installs controllers, relays, sensors and switches on assigned equipment and systems
• Repairs, maintains and retrofits electrical systems, fire alarms, public address systems and telephone systems
• Repairs vandalism or storm damage to buildings and grounds

Preventative Maintenance

• Performs preventative maintenance of assigned equipment and systems
• Repairs or finishes furniture, cabinetry and walls
• Repairs or replaces damaged mirrors, windows, carpet, flooring, and doors in buildings and school buses
• Repairs or opens locked doors and gates
• Welds and repairs playground and maintenance equipment and school buses
• Fabricates access ramps and hand rails
• Paints and glazes indoors and outdoors

Assists with other trades

• Aids in other trades maintenance activities
• Calculates amounts and places orders for construction project materials
• Contacts vendors according to procurement procedures

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments
• Work requires frequent driving, standing, walking, bending and lifting
• May be exposed to moving equipment and hand tools, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes and chemicals, harmful dust and air particles and infectious diseases

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Three (3) years trades maintenance experience in electrical, plumbing, general maintenance or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Must possess an Arizona driver license
• Must pass district administered examination with a score of 70 or greater

Additional Certifications

(Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.)
