Maintenance Technician, Food Plant

Responsibilities

  • Aid in implementing preventive maintenance schedules and checklists for all equipment.
  • Routinely walk the facility and document areas needing repair or updates in the maintenance log.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and develop appropriate repair strategies.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and tools.
  • Maintain a log of equipment routine maintenance and coordinate with vendors as necessary.
  • Perform repairs promptly without disrupting the daily operations of the facility.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Ensure adherence to building safety and security standards and GMP guidelines.
  • Use common hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices.
  • Communicate and uphold safety and security standards for team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant regulatory rules and standards, including OSHA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA, ADA, and FDA.
  • Attend and complete all required equipment and certification trainings.
  • Foster a positive work environment characterized by teamwork and mutual respect.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a maintenance leadership role within a food production or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with team members.
  • Proven ability to make timely and effective repairs.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain management, environmental health and safety, and OSHA.
  • Basic computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and willingness to learn new software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and adapt to a flexible schedule.
  • Genuine passion for food and commitment to Whole Foods Market's purpose.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must adhere to company dress code and PPE requirements.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions with reasonable accommodation.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures ranging from 90°F, and wet/dry conditions.
  • May require the use of ladders.
