POSITION SUMMARY
Our Waco, TX facility manufactures aluminum ends/lids for beverage cans commonly used for soft drinks, beers, energy drinks, teas and non-carbonated beverages. Using state of the art end-making technology, this high-speed environment provides rewarding manufacturing opportunities. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team at a high-volume aluminum end manufacturing plant. This role is essential for ensuring the reliable operation of our high-speed manufacturing equipment, specifically the Shell Press and Conversion machinery.
EQUIPMENT TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical failures, electrical faults, and control system issues on high-speed, automated production lines.
- Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective, long-term solutions to restore operations quickly.
- Expertly utilize blueprints, schematics (electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic), technical manuals, and precision measuring tools to perform repairs and installations.
MESHICAL AND PRECISION MAINTENANCE
- Perform essential mechanical tasks including gearbox repair, bearing replacement, conveyor maintenance, aligning shafts, and replacing worn parts on presses and converting machines.
- Execute precise alignment procedures on high-speed rotating components and tooling interfaces.
- Perform welding and fabrication for minor repairs and modifications as needed.
ELECTRICAL AND CONTROLS MAINTENANCE
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, motor controls, distribution systems, sensors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Read and interpret PLC logic (primarily Allen-Bradley) to diagnose machine faults, identify control failures, and assist Engineering in program modifications.
- Calibrate and repair instrumentation, including temperature and pressure sensors, flow meters, and proximity switches.
PREVENTATIVE AND PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE (PM/PdM)
- Execute scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks and calibrations according to the plant's schedule and checklists.
- Participate in Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities such as vibration analysis, oil sampling, and thermography to anticipate potential equipment failures.
- Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document all work performed, log parts used, and track equipment history.
SAFETY AND STANDARDS
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, and working at heights.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with relevant codes and standards (OSHA, NEC).
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Required Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience serving as a trade or mechanical technician in a related industry is required in lieu of a formal degree.
- Aptitude: Strong spatial reasoning, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment.
General Skills/Experience:
- Understanding manufacturing processes.
- Prefer data collection and analysis experience in a high-volume automated manufacturing environment.
- Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information.
- Experience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to production.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical manuals, 2D drawings, P&IDs, fluid and electrical schematics and other engineering documentation.
- Proven understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies.
- Innovative leader with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion.
- Ability to develop manufacturing documentation.
- Capable of identifying critical process parameters and applying statistics to process measurement and control.
- Development and qualification of tooling/equipment skills.
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and clients.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities through both process improvements and system improvements.
- Ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction.

Preference will be given to qualified local candidates.
Software/Computer Skills & Experience:
- Intermediate level of knowledge in basic hardware and software using of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Google Workspace, Outlook/Gmail and web-site software required.
- Has the ability to learn new software systems and data management systems quickly.
- Proficient keyboarding and typing skills.
