About the role

The Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep and repair of all plant functions, assists with parts inventory, plant housekeeping, and safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Performs monthly preventative maintenance as directed by Supervisor.
  • Performs repairs and general maintenance in all areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Aids in upkeep of parts and supplies inventory.
  • Observes plant safety rules and helps identify and eliminate safety hazards.
  • Assists in monitoring quality of work output and maintenance procedures.
  • Cooperates with Supervisor to complete jobs in a time- and cost-effective manner.
  • Collaborates with other department supervisors to expedite repairs of down equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining cost standards for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working area and assists other departments with cleanliness and organization.
  • Reports problems or concerns to direct Supervisor and maintains good working relations with all employees.
  • Exemplifies teamwork to ensure success of organizational goals and metrics.
  • Contributes ideas for possible usage in factory functions.
  • Actively engages in key projects such as equipment install, line re-design, kaizen-driven improvements, and other initiatives.
  • Performs individual assignments as directed by management.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation, and the community.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • General knowledge of Maintenance.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in machine repair, tool & die, and/or machinist areas.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ mechanic troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related Technical Degree.
  • Licensing in Electrical, Welding, or related field.
  • Miscellaneous Maintenance/Mechanical/Electronics trade school.
  • Journeyman Electrician certification.
  • Experience with LEAN application, including 5S and SMED principles.
  • Experience working within a TPM program.

Skills

  • Understanding of mechanical workings of a variety of production equipment.
  • Ability to repair and install machinery.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and flexibility to deal with interruptions.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make independent judgments for corrective action.

Schedule

Days (6am-6pm) on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Standing and walking approximately 90% of work time.
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
  • Willingness to work all/any shifts.
  • Typical plant/manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
