About the role
Van Buskirk Companies is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Maintenance Technician to join our Commercial Property Maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Perform general and preventive maintenance and repair work across VBC’s commercial properties.
- Troubleshoot HVAC systems.
- Repair and maintain locks, keys, and access systems.
- Clandscape and Groundskeeping: Conduct lawn and landscaping tasks, trimming trees, planting, weeding, watering, minor sprinkler repairs, and limited snow removal.
- Clean-up: Perform daily clean-up duties, such as trash removal and litter control from property grounds and parking lots.
- Tenant Request: Respond to tenant service calls, ensuring efficient and exceptional customer service.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance time and activities, and inventory supplies.
- Research and source materials from cost-effective vendors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in commercial property management or a similar role.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance for frequent travel between job sites.
- Proficiency in general maintenance methods, including the use of hand and power tools.
- Working knowledge of construction trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
- Resourceful problem-solving skills and adaptability to unconventional challenges.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety protocols.
- Professional verbal communication skills for courteous and responsive interactions with tenants, vendors and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Physical ability to see, hear, and consistently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (up to 100 lbs. with assistance).
- Mobile and endurance for frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling and ladder climbing.
- Manual dexterity and skilled hand-eye coordination to operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including in extreme weather conditions.
