Maintenance Technician

Primary Function

Primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems/types of industrial equipment for poultry processing plant.

Responsibilities

• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery (i.e. mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying systems, etc) using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications
• Identify root cause of basic mechanical issues and performs repairs by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting or replacing defective component; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required
• Identify unsafe conditions and corrects; reports to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own
• Auxiliary with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed
• Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
• All other duties as assigned

Education And Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 required

Experience And Skills

• Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated applicable mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Intermediate math and computer skills
• Ability to operate/use basic hand and power tools
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
• Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

Safety Requirements

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required

Physical Requirements

• Stand up to 8 hours
• Lift up to 60 lbs
• May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC)
• Exposure to wet and dusty environment
• Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling
• Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
• Work around raw, live animal odors
