Maintenance Technician

Provide repair and maintenance support in the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation areas of the Chicago Oleo Plant facility. Perform preventive maintenance service.

Responsibilities

• Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of plant-wide equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Performs mechanical skills including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of plant-wide equipment.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Complies with OSHA safety and health rules.
• Repairs and maintains mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment in the facility as directed by supervisor.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance on various equipment.
• Uses hand and power tools as required to perform routine equipment maintenance functions.
• Uses powered man lifts (e.g., JLG’s) and scissor lifts to gain safe access to equipment.
• Transports and lifts equipment using forklift trucks and other specialist equipment.
• Certifies plant instruments following established ISO guidelines.
• Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical/instrumentation problems, diagnoses faults, and carries out repairs.
• Always follows all safety procedures.
• Installs new equipment as required.
• Maintains and upgrades plant facilities as required.
• Demonstrates desire to train and increase skill levels in other areas from core skills (e.g., mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation).
• Completes record-keeping documentation such as work orders, parts withdrawal, safety permits, etc., including entering information into the computer system.
• Responsible for FSSC/GMP food safety related to designated area. Reports any food safety and quality-related issues to management immediately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
• City of Chicago Electricians license.
• Trade School Certificate.
• 3-5 years of applicable maintenance experience in a manufacturing process plant environment, preferably chemical or petrochemical.
• Ability to pass third-party trade tests as required.

Pay

The starting rate for this position is $39.89/hr.
