Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Maintenance Technician position at Van Metre's Woodland Park Apartments in Herndon, VA, requires a candidate with 1-2 years of maintenance experience or a valid training background. Universal EPA certification is preferred, along with strong skills in appliance, electrical, and plumbing repair, HVAC, and electrical circuitry. Knowledge of OSHA, building, and safety standards is essential, as is the ability to manage inventory, tools, and respond to resident service requests.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Service Manager with maintenance and oversight
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and janitorial services
- Perform general repair of property grounds, apartments, and building exteriors
- Manage storage areas and maintenance materials
- Turnover work for vacant units
- Walk the property daily to maintain curb appeal and monitor safety issues
- Notify Service Manager and Property Manager of safety or liability concerns
- Ensure excellent customer service
- Respond to after-hours emergency requests and ensure property staff coverage
Qualifications
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner with residents, visitors, contractors, and fellow employees
- Strong understanding of appliance, electrical, and plumbing repair
- Basic knowledge of HVAC and electrical circuitry
- Current on OSHA, building, and safety standards
- Own basic tools and be knowledgeable about their safe use and maintenance
- Valid drivers' license
Benefits
- Salary: $23.00-$28.00 per hour (Pay is commensurate with experience, education, training, and skills)
