Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Installs and repairs doors, locks, windows, frames, floor tiles, and other fixtures.
- Acts in the lead capacity for other maintenance workers, sets priorities and ensures materials to complete work.
- Repairs electrical malfunctions of a minor nature and installs new electrical fixtures.
- Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating water and sewer systems; opens clogged drains.
- Performs minor repairs to air conditioning system as needed.
- Refinishes concrete work on floors, walkways, and other projects.
- Mixes prepared paints and paints a variety of exterior and interior surfaces.
- Removes and replaces bathroom fixtures and enclosures.
- Performs small patch plaster jobs.
- Moves and mends office furniture.
- Retrieves and delivers wood for the community.
- Dusts and mops floors.
- Vacuums carpets.
- Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies.
- Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
- Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal.
- May change light bulbs as directed.
- Irrigates landscaped areas as needed.
- Picks up and disposes of litter.
- Trims weeds around walks, flower beds, and walls using appropriate hand tools.
- Maintains Parks and Recreation areas.
- Operates power tools and equipment from sanders to backhoes.
- Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects; performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
- Determines material list of supplies needed for each work order.
- Observes safety rules, and ensures and maintains a safe environment.
- Attends training classes and seminars on safety, first aid, equipment/machinery operation, and related topics to maintain and enhance job knowledge.
- Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
- Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED plus one year maintenance experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's license.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
- Native American preference will be given.
