Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment across all Waubonsee Campuses.
- Support other mechanical systems as needed, including restarting air handler units.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing issues such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing damaged pipes or fixtures.
- Identify and develop solutions for plumbing issues.
- Install new electrical systems including wiring, outlets, lighting, ballasts, etc.
- Diagnose and repair electrical problems such as faulty wiring, malfunctioning equipment, and tripped breakers.
- Complete basic carpentry tasks such as fixing damaged or deteriorated woodwork, installing/cleaning up cabinetry, shelving, trim, cove base, hanging/removing pictures, installing storage units, and hanging/dismantling dry erase boards.
- Troubleshoot issues with manual and automatic door locking mechanisms.
- Surface preparation, paint application, color matching, patching, and minor repairs to drywall.
- Maintain and clean paint equipment and tools.
- Utilize approved vendor websites to order supplies to complete jobs.
- Order necessary materials and supplies from approved vendor websites to complete tasks.
- Provide assistance to General Maintenance Mechanics as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least two years of experience in a related maintenance field such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general facilities maintenance are required.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
- The ability to work well with others and provide excellent customer service is essential.
- The physical ability to lift 80 lbs occasionally is required.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings is preferred.
- The ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated platforms is required.
- Problem-solving ability to find solutions using creative thinking is preferred.
- Effective, oral, and written communication skills are required.
- The ability to frequently climb, stand, crawl, and walk is required.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
- Proficiency in using smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, and other related devices to perform basic work order functions is preferred.
