About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at College Suites at Washington Square, a professionally managed student housing community in Schenectady, NY.
Responsibilities
- Completes maintenance work orders as assigned.
- Performs maintenance relating to the exterior and interiors of all property buildings, including painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mowing, and plowing.
- Maintains inventory of equipment, tools, supplies, and work materials.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all utility sources and supply lines.
- Performs all phases of snow removal and maintains related equipment.
- Completes maintenance items for units under renovation, including painting, cleaning, and repairs.
- Cleans common areas and handles trash removal.
- Assesses and prioritizes work to be performed on the assigned site.
- Completes daily work schedules for routine maintenance duties.
- Notifies Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager of problems and potential issues.
- Ensures quality of work performed.
- Handles emergency situations and communicates details to the Property Manager.
- Available for on-call duties as necessary.
- Maintains a professional and courteous manner with residents, vendors, contractors, and employees.
- Actively participates in and follows safety and health programs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; applicable work history.
- 1+ years of experience in residential property maintenance preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and heating systems.
- Demonstrates integrity on personal and professional levels.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, and pull.
- Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10 hours.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to paints, cleaning agents, chemicals, and other irritants.
- Minimum of three (3) years driving experience if the role requires driving.
Pay
$20 - $21 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Evening and weekend hours required as needed for emergency maintenance.
