About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at College Suites at Washington Square, a professionally managed student housing community in Schenectady, NY.

Responsibilities

• Completes maintenance work orders as assigned.
• Performs maintenance relating to the exterior and interiors of all property buildings, including painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mowing, and plowing.
• Maintains inventory of equipment, tools, supplies, and work materials.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all utility sources and supply lines.
• Performs all phases of snow removal and maintains related equipment.
• Completes maintenance items for units under renovation, including painting, cleaning, and repairs.
• Cleans common areas and handles trash removal.
• Assesses and prioritizes work to be performed on the assigned site.
• Completes daily work schedules for routine maintenance duties.
• Notifies Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager of problems and potential issues.
• Ensures quality of work performed.
• Handles emergency situations and communicates details to the Property Manager.
• Available for on-call duties as necessary.
• Maintains a professional and courteous manner with residents, vendors, contractors, and employees.
• Actively participates in and follows safety and health programs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; applicable work history.
• 1+ years of experience in residential property maintenance preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and heating systems.
• Demonstrates integrity on personal and professional levels.
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, and pull.
• Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10 hours.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Potential exposure to paints, cleaning agents, chemicals, and other irritants.
• Minimum of three (3) years driving experience if the role requires driving.

Pay

$20 - $21 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Evening and weekend hours required as needed for emergency maintenance.
