About the Role
Supporting the Core Values of Passion, Teamwork and Excellence, this position serves as a subject matter expert in maintenance, ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of various mechanical production and facilities equipment to maximize plant efficiency and compliance with safety requirements. The role involves coaching, mentoring, and training team members, as well as driving process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and locate, analyze, and repair sources of problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Operate production machines to safely produce quality products and ensure overall equipment effectiveness.
- Inspect manufactured products for faults, follow quality protocols, and record results, including re-works, waste, and data input into quality databases.
- Make necessary adjustments and repairs to equipment to maintain safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Perform daily and departmental safety checks to correct hazards and ensure safe work habits.
- Conduct quality activities and documentation to meet customer expectations.
- Maintain and improve Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence activities and programs.
- Support inventory management activities as assigned.
- Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts for material movements and general housekeeping (5S) of assigned areas.
- Coach, mentor, and train team members to resolve problems and oversee critical process points to ensure quality standards.
- Provide accurate reporting on safety, production, efficiency, quality, and potential problem areas.
- Assist in trial runs, defective product isolation/sorting, and machine breakdowns.
- Perform rotational jobs of responsibility, assist with new equipment installation or overhauls, and work on plant projects.
- Be available for callouts during emergencies and breakdowns.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Collaborate with others to recommend process improvements.
- Operate production lines and relieve personnel for breaks as required.
- Understand and adhere to BRC Food Safety Policy, GMPs, HACCP Principle, and BRC Food Safety Standard.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate Degree in an industrial mechanic concentration or equivalent technical certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting as an industrial mechanic, with welding and fabricating experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Computer skills sufficient to complete inventory-based transactions.

- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices, including machine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude (written skills test and hands-on test required).
- Sound understanding of tools and measuring devices (aptitude test required).
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to lead teams, coach, train, mentor, and facilitate job tasks.
- Problem-solving skills to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Intermediate math skills, including division in all units of measurement, rate, ratio, and percent (aptitude test required).
- Ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
- Proven ability to motivate people and maintain a safe, cohesive work environment.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Willingness to work all shifts, including 8- or 12-hour shifts (daylight and off-shifts), weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
