Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepares athletic fields for daily use (including weekends and evenings as needed).
• Cleans restrooms, picks up litter, performs routine park maintenance, empties trash cans, and other cleaning duties as needed.
• Provides landscaping duties including mowing, pruning, mulching, spraying, fertilization, leaf removal, and other duties at parks and county ground sites.
• Performs routine maintenance on park equipment, landscaping equipment, and park structures, including making and installing Gaston County street signs as assigned.
• Assists with park events.
• Maintains splash pad daily, including cleaning, inspecting, logging all chemical levels, and filtration.
• Removes snow and applies winter ice melt to walkways at county properties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid NC Driver’s License.
• Ability to work outside in all temperatures.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform physical functions including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
