Maintenance Technician

About the role

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of buildings, including safety procedures and common tools.

Responsibilities

• Determine need for repairs involving various building trades
• Recognize hazards typical of the work
• Use hand tools utilized in a variety of building trades
• Read blueprints and sketches
• Estimate time and material needed to perform a job
• Make mechanical repairs to equipment and appliances
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions

Physical Profile

• Physically able to perform essential duties efficiently and effectively
• Tasks include reading blueprints and specifications, reading measurements, visual inspection, matching colors, mixing paint, listening, making electrical connections, repairing or replacing leaks, soldering, hammering, sanding, painting, repairing pipes, digging holes, mixing cement, crawling, standing, painting, repairing and inspecting buildings, digging trenches, building tile walls, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, lifting up to 100 pounds assisted, and using equipment like hoisting equipment and hand trucks.

Selective Certification

• Valid motor vehicle operator's license
