About the Role
Performs the most complex troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components across all machinery, including production and facility equipment, under limited supervision.
Responsibilities
- Electrical:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of 3-phase 240V-480V connections with busbar cans down to single-phase 110V connections and associated equipment.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair wiring, switches, circuit breakers, relays, power supplies, drives, and motors for automated assembly, test equipment, and metal removal machinery (CNC mills, lathes, precision ID/OD grinders, precision honing machines).
- Troubleshoot HMI controls, preferably Siemens HMI and Mazak Mazatrol controls.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair high bay lighting (480V), machine internal lighting, and work/test bench lighting.
- Use and read electrical schematics for installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Perform power drops, conduit installation, and wire pulling.
- Apply arc flash knowledge and experience.
- Mechanical:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical components for automated assembly equipment and metal removal machinery (CNC mills, lathes, precision ID/OD grinders, precision honing machines).
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, filtration systems, air handling units, bay doors, and facilities-related components.
- Use and read mechanical drawings for installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Troubleshoot PLC issues using ladder logic for Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Pneumatic:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair components, air lines, solenoids, and connectors.
- Experience with industrial 250–450-ton air compressors (air-cooled and water-cooled) is a plus.
- Use and read pneumatic diagrams for installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Perform airline installs.
- Hydraulic:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic pumps, valves, and cylinders.
- Make hydraulic hoses with connectors.
- Use and read hydraulic diagrams for installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Chilled Water Systems:
- Basic knowledge of cooling towers, circulation pumps, filters, and valves.
- Basic knowledge of process and climate chillers (screw type & centrifugal).
- Experience with end-of-line chilled water purging and filtration systems.
- Facilities:
- Plumbing, office cubicles, ceiling tile, roof leaks, and monitor mounting.
- Data (Ethernet) drop installs.
- Work at various heights using forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Welding (MIG, TIG) is a plus but not required.
- Perform multiple physical tasks daily while adhering to PPE standards and EHS compliance.
- Use PM systems to write work orders, complete PM tasks on time, and document tasks in CMMS software.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Trade School Graduate.
- At least 3 years of manufacturing machine repair experience.
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and/or engineering blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems and equipment, including drives and motors.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting & Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50–75 lbs regularly (tools, motors, parts, gearboxes).
- Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (8–10-hour shifts), often on concrete floors.
- Climbing: Must be able and willing to climb and work at elevated locations.
- Bending/Kneeling: Frequent bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, or lying under equipment for repair/inspection.
- Reaching & Handling: Must be able to reach overhead, use hands and arms for precise tool handling and parts manipulation.
- Manual Dexterity: High level of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills needed to use small tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Visual Acuity: Must have clear vision (close, distance, color) to read manuals, wiring diagrams, and perform inspections.
- Hearing: Must be able to hear machine sounds, alarms, and instructions in a noisy industrial environment.
- Mobility: Must be able to move quickly and safely around machinery, across production lines, and in confined areas.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to noise, vibrations, oil/grease, chemicals, and machinery.
- Must wear PPE: gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots.
- Must be willing to work inside and outside throughout the year in various environments within building facilities and/or outside grounds.
- May be required to work weekends.
