About the role
The role of Maintenance Technician at Roadrunner Freight involves performing various maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks on trailers to ensure they are safe, efficient, and roadworthy. The primary duties include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and structural issues, repairing or replacing damaged components, conducting routine inspections, and providing expert recommendations on trailer upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures.
- Determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems.
- Perform facilities maintenance.
- Conduct routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Estimate costs to repair machinery, equipment, or building structures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Required).
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
- Basic electrical diagnosis and repair.
- Basic Plumbing knowledge.
- Foundation brake system diagnosis and repair.
- Door repair – both roll and swing doors.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and company policies.
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise.
- May be required to drive service van to off-site locations and perform work.
- Exposure to climate conditions of the geographic area.
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, paints, or other irritants.
- Hours may vary due to operational needs.
Compensation
The compensation for this role is $26.00 to $28.00 per hour.
