About the role

POAH Communities is seeking a highly qualified Maintenance Technician for our three Bourne Properties located in Bourne, MA—all within a mile of the Bourne Bridge at the gateway of Cape Cod:

  • Canal Bluffs: The first phase of a multi-phased residential community with 28 units affordable to residents earning 60% of the median area income.
  • Clay Pond Cove at Canal Bluffs: The second phase of a multi-phased affordable housing community in Bourne, MA.
  • High Meadow Townhomes: The third phase of a 117-unit affordable housing project, newly constructed in 2018, consisting of 44 mixed-income, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Be knowledgeable of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Monitor the condition of apartment property and immediately address unsafe conditions.
  • Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance on all appropriate equipment.
  • Perform work area clean-up and safety-related duties.
  • Diagnose and perform minor and routine maintenance/repairs.
  • Ensure all make-ready repairs and services are completed and coordinate inspections as needed.
  • Assist in keeping grounds neat and clean (rake, sweep, shovel as necessary).

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in apartment maintenance.
  • High School diploma or GED required; HVAC certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance (use of personal vehicle may be required).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and on-call as necessary.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, user-moved aids, mechanical equipment, and measuring devices.
  • Physical ability to perform duties 66–100% of the time: standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder, climbing ladders, grasping/gripping/turning, finger dexterity, lifting/carrying up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance forms and warning labels.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Pay

$23.63–$27.00 per hour, based on experience.
