About the role

As a Maintenance Technician you will assist with performing a variety of general maintenance duties including electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and construction in the maintenance and repair of PRS facilities and equipment. Perform environmental-related inspections and document findings for storm water, hazardous waste, and fuel storage programs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions; identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs; replace light bulbs, ballasts, and fuses.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC systems, including changing filters and bearings.
  • Complete maintenance work orders as assigned and in a timely manner.
  • Identify and perform basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures; open clogged lines and drains.
  • Identify and assist with carpentry and repair work.
  • Operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools including saws, routers, drills, sanders, planers, drill presses, and various hand tools.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; recommend tools, supplies, and equipment for purchase.
  • Perform a variety of locksmith duties; install, repair, and replace locks on doors.
  • Inspect, service, and maintain operational functionality of doors and windows.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, or oral instructions on a variety of structures related to construction projects.
  • Install or replace plugs, switches, and outlets.
  • Assist with moving, loading, unloading, and storing supplies, furniture, and equipment.
  • Wear proper protective equipment while performing job duties (e.g., goggles, helmet, back brace, knee pads).
  • Respond to 24-hour emergency calls; adjustment of hours and/or weekend work may be required and/or occasional overtime.
  • Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with employees and the general public.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted within established PRS policies and guidelines.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of advanced automotive and equipment servicing and repair; general use of personal computer and other related diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience in troubleshooting vehicle service and repair issues.
  • Experience operating fueling equipment.
  • Experience using pressure equipment to wash and clean vehicles.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
  • Ability to operate computer and/or other related equipment.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and safe work practices.
  • Valid driver license (Class “A” preferred).

Qualifications

  • 2 years of related experience and/or training in automotive or commercial vehicle repair.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is required.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical systems, air conditioning, air brakes, and computer diagnostics.
  • Experience doing preventative maintenance inspections and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and repair (certification preferred).
  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Must demonstrate effective decision-making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

USD $40.00 - USD $50.00 per hour.
