Maintenance Technicians
Maintain extensive heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems in the hospital. Operate various equipment including boilers, air-conditioning equipment, diesel engines, turbines, pumps, condensers, generators, and compressors. Start up, regulate, shut down, or repair equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Routine maintenance
- Minor welding and plumbing and electrical repairs
- Work off hours
Essential Functions
- Service and repair heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment
- Replace filters and fluids as necessary
- Maintain routine records or repairs
- Perform routine manual duties such as moving supplies, furniture, equipment, removing trash, scrap material, and replacing light bulbs
- Adjust to change as it occurs
- Handle new requirements, assignments, and challenges
- Practice good infection control and safety techniques
- Perform generator maintenance, smoke purge system testing, and other utility maintenance
- Maintain a neat and orderly environment
- Meet training and certification responsibilities
- Provide security of physical plant, grounds, and campus buildings
- Practice good quality assurance/risk management measures
Requirements
- High School diploma
- Maintenance certification preferred
Qualifications / Skills
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions
- Mathematics, computer, reasoning, and language skills preferred
- Ability to perform heavy work or lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects; climb ladders; and use hand tools
- Training in a related maintenance field (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) preferred
- Successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program
Work Environment
- Subject to many interruptions
- Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
- This position can be high paced and stressful
- Must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere
- Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
