Maintenance Technician

At New Story Schools, we serve students ages 5–21 with autism and emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Guided by individualized learning, therapeutic integration, and collaboration, we empower students to grow and prepare for meaningful adult lives. This position will split locations between New Story School in State College and New Story School in Dubois, with the majority of the role based in State College.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting
• Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections across school facilities
• Maintain building grounds, equipment, and tools to ensure operational readiness
• Address and resolve maintenance requests promptly to prevent safety hazards
• Support snow removal, landscaping, and facility upkeep throughout the year

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least two years of experience in general maintenance or repair services
• Basic knowledge of drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between regional school sites
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
