Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant manufacturing machinery and facilities, following direction from the Department Manager, Shift Supervisor, Team Lead, and/or Production Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform essential functions of the job to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Complete preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines using diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Locate sources of problems and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
- Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Control downtime by ensuring routine preventive maintenance is accomplished.
- Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Communicate daily with operators to ensure machinery is running properly.
- Clean and maintain work areas in the maintenance shop and around plant equipment.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Follow all plant rules, safety regulations, and order parts for work orders on equipment needing repair.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a skilled trade certificate program (Electrical and/or Mechanic certificate) or equivalent years of education and production maintenance experience.
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience; mechanical and industrial skills with electrical, PLC, and HVAC experience preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Basic skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, piping, welding, and building maintenance.
Training
- Employee Plant Orientation.
- Safety Orientation/OSHA Requirements.
- Quality Manual and Procedures, ISO Orientation, Quality Policy, and Objectives.
- Extensive on-the-job training regarding production processes and documentation.
- SQF Food Safety Training.
Schedule
- 8-hour set shifts: 1st (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), 2nd (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), 3rd (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
- Monday – Friday; weekends required as needed.
- Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving of items over 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
