Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving facility equipment and infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports fertilizer loading systems, bulk conveying equipment, pumps, motors, automation systems, and facility assets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance tasks in the outlined strategies including and not limited to preventative maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance and assessment (PdMA), condition-bases maintenance (CBM), emergency maintenance (EM), planned / scheduled maintenance (PSM), reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), precision lubrication (PL), material fabrication and layout (FaL), precision maintenance (PrM).
  • Conduct assessments on all facility systems and equipment to include and not limited to conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, pneumatic systems, approved electrical, hydraulic systems, loading equipment, powered industrial truck and rail moving equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Replace worn or defective parts using appropriate tools and procedures.
  • Maintain and repair bulk material handling and transfer conveyance systems.
  • Inspect and document maintenance activities and findings accurately.
  • Support predictive, preventative and precision maintenance programs in accordance with strategies to maintain.
  • Follow all OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is operating within compliance standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and required training.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Perform structural repairs and general building maintenance.
  • Maintain lighting, walkways, platforms, and safety guarding.
  • Support capital improvement projects and equipment installations.
  • Aid Operators and Laborers with mechanical troubleshooting when needed.
  • Assist with vendor coordination for specialized repairs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Cross train facility staff in safe, accurate, and efficient equipment maintenance, system trouble shooting and repair.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred (or equivalent technical training).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication skill set.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and basic schematics.
  • Ability to use hand, powered industrial machines, and power tools safely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in agricultural, fertilizer, manufacturing, or bulk material handling facilities.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with pumps, conveyors, and automation systems.
  • Technical certification or vocational training.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Regularly ascend and descend ladders and elevated platforms.
  • Tolerance for exposure to dust, chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
