About the Role

Assists the Chief Engineer or Lead Maintenance Technician in the functioning of the hotel. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance work to ensure the hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained. Provides excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner while adhering to guidelines and procedures.

Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential to this position, as associates have access to guestrooms and property. Potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility using consistent preventative maintenance guidelines.
  • Ensure all maintenance equipment is in working order.
  • Perform tasks as assigned: preventative maintenance, repairs, complete documentation.
  • Assist with houseman duties when assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned and within the realm of physical capabilities.
  • Report or correct any hazardous conditions observed immediately.
  • Practice safety standards at all times.
  • Communicate professionally with guests and co-workers.
  • Exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing along with preventative maintenance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
  • Must be able to push or pull 100 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, climb ladders, crawl, kneel, and be low to the ground when necessary, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Must be able to see and hear.
  • Must be able to speak and read English; ability to communicate in another language may be helpful.

Skills

  • Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in building and mechanical trades.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards in the use of power tools and equipment, and necessary safety precautions.
  • Experience with repairs and maintenance of furniture and fixtures within the hotel.
  • Use and care of hand and power tools and equipment appropriate to the area assignment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as well as general maintenance on property grounds.
  • Assist with guest issues while maintaining a professional and hospitable attitude.
  • Work as a team member and comply with all standards.
  • Remain service-centric and communicate professionally.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires a physical presence at the hotel and is not conducive to telecommuting or remote work.
  • Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a friendly professional image.
  • May be required to spend long periods outdoors in heat or cold.
  • May be required to work any day or shift, including nights and weekends.
