Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Maintenance Technician position at LAZ Parking involves maintaining on-street parking equipment to ensure it is in good working order. This role operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Drive a fleet vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Check and repair all parking meters and pay stations daily.
- Standard check of equipment including proper operations, paper supply, accuracy of time on system clock, and overall general appearance.
- Note and report any safety condition relating to equipment or place of employment.
- Keep accurate inventory of parts and equipment.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning tools and equipment, shop organization, and other tasks as needed.
- Note and correct any maintenance problems during assigned routes.
- Paint meter poles, curbs, and equipment as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience in a maintenance or technical role.
- Experience in general labor and/or assembly.
- General knowledge of the city or area the position is located.
- General knowledge of computers.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- General knowledge of hand-held devices and computers.
- Ability to handle challenging and emotionally-charged situations.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
- Open to feedback, differing opinions, and other points of view.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness.
- Demonstrates the ability to seek improvement.
- Excellent teambuilding and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of how to operate various types of motor vehicles.
- Ability to produce and maintain an acceptable driving record and unrestricted Illinois drivers' license.

Hourly Pay: $17.30
Plus: $1.55 Incentive = $18.85 per hour
Schedule
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday – 3:00pm to 11:00pm / 2nd Shift - 40 Hours per week

Physical Demands
- Willingness to work in the elements – heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
- Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift continuously throughout a shift.
