Supports IMMI/APLP operations company-wide by performing machine maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and minimal downtime through inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure timely and effective completion, while proactively implementing preventive measures to reduce equipment downtime.
- Communicate maintenance status, updates, or issues to relevant supervisors, especially those impacting production capacity, quality, or safety.
- Perform general maintenance and installation of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, water, air, plumbing, and IT utility systems, as well as facility-related repairs.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure compliance with IMMI standards and applicable governmental regulations, including readiness for inspections.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to sustain optimal equipment performance.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; repair or replace faulty parts using appropriate tools (hand, power, or precision instruments).
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Support installation, calibration, and testing of new equipment in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
- Partner with operations and production teams to plan and execute maintenance activities with minimal disruption to manufacturing schedules.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company environmental health and safety (EHS) policies.
- Identify and recommend improvements to equipment, tools, and maintenance processes for increased reliability and efficiency.
- Keep maintenance tools and equipment in proper working conditions and report any deficiencies or needs for replacement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical, or electrical engineering is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance role.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems, supported by relevant training or certifications.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and equipment diagrams.
- Experience operating and maintaining powered industrial equipment; must pass both written and practical certification exams.
- OSHA safety training certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Demonstrated proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments; welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Competence with maintenance software and CMMS platforms; basic computer literacy required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support team coordination and documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in various working conditions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call shifts, as operational needs require.
- Commitment to comply with all applicable legal, safety, and corporate standards.
Skills
- Skilled in using hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, drills, grinders).
- Proficient with basic electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, voltage testers).
- Familiarity with torque tools, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Use of ladders, lifts, and standard PPE in industrial environments.
- Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting tools (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) is preferred.
- Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic system tools and diagnostics is preferred.
- Welding and fabrication tools (MIG/ARC preferred) is a plus.
- Ability to interpret CAD drawings and technical schematics is preferred.
- Experience with advanced diagnostics tools (e.g., thermal cameras, vibration sensors) is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to visually inspect and interpret designs on screen and in print.
- Requires continuous motion throughout the day, including standing or sitting for extended periods, stepping up and down, balancing, bending, reaching, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting, observing, hearing, and grasping.
- Utilization of tools, equipment, and industrial vehicles, and ability to perform physically demanding tasks as necessary.
- Proper attire and use of PPE, including eyewear, steel-toed protection, hard hat, gloves, earbuds, and other PPE as required.
- Ability to work in various temperature conditions.
Working Conditions
- Deadline-oriented, requires multitasking, fluctuating work schedule, and flexibility within the workday.
- Must maintain 24-hour availability, including off-shift access via phone.
- Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- Requires working and interacting with others, both in person and through phone, electronic, and written correspondence.
- Requires the ability to listen effectively, communicate clearly, maintain attention to detail, and perform focused work.
