Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects and checks equipment for proper operating condition, makes necessary adjustments, logs test readings, and maintains, repairs, or replaces all essential equipment parts
- Familiar with machine networking process
- Capable of working with outside contractors for trouble shooting procedures
- Understanding of CNC machining programming and operation
- Self-motivated person that works with little direction
- Understanding urgency to trouble shoot machines and bring production back on line
- Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties as required
- Reads blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical/electrical diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly
- Aligns, fits, and assembles component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates
- Operates metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures
- Repairs, reworks, and calibrates hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances
- Prepares parts sketches and writes work orders
- Reviews project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing
- Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments
- Analyzes test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications
- Convenes with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
- Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations
- Oversees installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications
- Conducts research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems
- Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems
- Identifies and resolves equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts
- Maintains system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment
- Strict adherence to lock out tag out procedures
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the electrical and/or mechanical maintenance field
- Requires experience in electrical installation and maintenance work on plant electrical systems and equipment
- Requires experience in mechanical installation and maintenance work on plant systems and equipment
- Requires experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
Skills and Knowledge
- Requires a broad knowledge of controls and mechanisms
- Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Experienced with remote IO design and operation
- Experienced with robot programming and troubleshooting
- Experienced with AC/DC drive motor operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting
- Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools or software by reading or attending conferences, workshops or other training
- The ability to work in a team environment, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items, and participating in a proactive manner in all team events
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects with strong prioritization skills
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, reasoning, and analytical skills
- The ability to quickly adapt in a constantly evolving, growing environment
Physical Demands
- Heavy walking and standing throughout the shift
- Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Frequently required to sit, crouch, stoop, lean, climb
- Required to use hands to type, handle objects and paperwork
- Required to reach and hold on to items at chest level or reach above the shoulder
- Required to use close vision, peripheral vision, focus and see colors as required to read equipment and material labels, color-coded inventory, computer terminal screens, etc.
- May be required to wear safety Personal Protective Equipment for eyes, face, head, feet, hearing, hands and arms
- Be willing to travel for training if required (in-state)
- Able to work extended hours, overtime and/or weekends as required
- The employee generally works in warehouse, manufacturing, and indoor office environments but occasionally works outside, in all types of weather and on uneven terrain
