Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Maintenance Technician operates, repairs and maintains hospital and associated buildings' physical plants and equipment in a safe, cost effective and industry accepted manner, assures a safe and reliable facility to provide services. The primary responsibility for this position is supporting the Hudson Hospital & Clinic site, including on-call coverage. Additionally, this role will provide support at other HealthPartners St. Croix Valley locations as operational needs arise.
Responsibilities
- Assists with maintenance department projects as needed.
- Participates in quality improvement activities of the department and hospital.
- Implements and monitors performance improvement standards.
- Performs preventive maintenance as required and in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Performs preventive maintenance as required on assigned fire safety equipment and in accordance with Joint Commission guidelines.
- Obtains list of scheduled devices and documents maintenance in equipment management system.
- Performs electrical safety testing as required.
- Documents vendor service repair in equipment management system.
- Provides written information regarding the operation of the equipment.
- Follows manufacturer guidelines for troubleshooting and maintenance of devices.
- Responds for and completes customer requests in a timely manner.
- Provides basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs, and paints building interior/exterior as needed.
- Operates grounds machinery & equipment for snow removal.
- Provides extermination duties (rodents, bats, ants) if needed.
- Back up Groundskeeper responsibilities as needed.
- Completes daily rounds in the am (inspection of major and auxiliary equipment) in absence of Maintenance Engineer.
Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent. Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two-year technical training in building maintenance.
- One year experience in the operation of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems in a healthcare setting.
