Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Maintenance Technician role at Homeless Solutions (HSI) supports the day-to-day facility operations for 140 units of HSI-owned or managed permanent residential properties. This is a full-time, non-exempt, onsite position, reporting to the Lead Maintenance Technician, with travel to other facilities primarily in the Morris County area. The position is responsible for implementing HSI’s high standards for maintenance and upkeep, and for promoting these standards among tenants and those who work for or contract with HSI.
Responsibilities
- Implementing typical repair tasks such as basic carpentry, drywall/tape/spackle, paint, flooring and tile, electrical (light fixture changes), and plumbing (sink faucet changes, leak repair).
- Routine and preventative maintenance on HVAC units.
- Installing and servicing kitchen equipment, appliances, window air conditioning units, etc.
- Moving equipment and furniture for all HSI facilities and sites.
- Aiding in necessary renovations and cleaning of tenant units upon move out.
- Responding to off-hour facility emergencies as part of the rotating schedule.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to provide for common working knowledge and with construction means and methods.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to the building trades and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Functional working knowledge and ability to use computing systems and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities mentioned herein (to include lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.), sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and navigating stairs and uneven terrain at properties.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Qualifications

Pay
The starting pay rate for this position is $20-$21/hr.
Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a rotating schedule for responding to off-hour facility emergencies.
