Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The Maintenance Technician, under the supervision of the management team, performs corrective and preventive maintenance of all equipment assigned to Plant Operations and Maintenance. This role ensures equipment operates at peak condition, minimizes breakdowns, and maintains the hospital's aesthetic appearance. The position requires fostering cooperative working relationships, promoting a positive department image, and interacting professionally with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.

Technical skills are essential, including troubleshooting control circuits, mechanical equipment, reading control schematics and manuals, and diagnosing and repairing technical issues related to controls, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, or plumbing. The role also emphasizes cost awareness and the control of hospital assets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment in top operating condition to minimize breakdowns.
• Ensure the aesthetic appearance of the hospital is maintained satisfactorily.
• Troubleshoot control circuits, mechanical equipment, and systems.
• Read and interpret prints, diagrams, manufacturer’s directions, and recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair technical problems with controls, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, or plumbing.
• Collaborate with other hospital departments and partners to control costs and manage assets.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Ten (10) years of skilled experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, including electrical, air conditioning, and plumbing training, preferably in a hospital, hotel, or manufacturing plant.
• Current South Carolina driver’s license.
• Ability to read and follow prints, diagrams, and manufacturer’s directions.
