Maintenance Technician

Description

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and cleaning mechanical areas/equipment and assisting other trade mechanics in their duties to ensure a safe, clean, and well‑maintained hotel.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with all trade mechanics as required to help with repairs and maintenance.
• Demonstrate good mechanical ability and willingness to learn and take direction from trade mechanics.
• Use basic hand and electric tools; familiarity with parts and materials.
• Work in hot, cold, and wet conditions; stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb on all types of surfaces.
• Lift tools, equipment, or materials weighing up to 75 lb.
• Use ladders and climb equipment up to 30 ft high to maintain equipment.
• Change filters on all supply air fans and fan coil units, requiring hand‑tool use and equipment adjustment.
• Clean and paint all mechanical spaces, including color‑coded steam pipes and electrical wires; work in confined spaces and awkward positions.
• Clean ceiling diffusers, return air registers, and toilet exhausts; climb ladders or use a lift, occasionally working at heights above 30 ft.

Required Skills and Ability

• Basic knowledge of skilled‑trade activities in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical work, and painting.
• Mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.
• Proficiency with a variety of skilled‑trade tools (hand and electric).
• Basic English communication and mathematical skills for job assignments and simple arithmetic.
• Ability to move and work throughout the hotel for the duration of a shift.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Ability to push and pull objects or materials weighing up to 100 lb.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 ft for extended periods, with overhead arm extension.
• Ability to grasp, lift, or carry items weighing up to 75 lb waist‑high.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma preferred.
• Some experience in a related field preferred.
