Maintenance Technician

About the role

This position assists with installation and maintenance tasks including refrigeration, mechanical, and carpentry. It also involves providing general maintenance department assistance, maintaining buildings and grounds, detecting and reporting faulty operations, and promoting the 5S concept.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance (refrigeration, mechanical, carpentry, etc.)
• Provide general maintenance department assistance
• Maintain buildings and grounds in a clean and acceptable manner
• Detect and report faulty operations, materials and working conditions to supervisor
• Use safety equipment as instructed. Follow safety regulations and company policies
• Maintain work area, equipment and tools in clean orderly condition
• Promote 5S concept of order and housekeeping
• Perform other duties and cross-train as required or assigned

Qualifications

• Basic math skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to operate forklift and material handling equipment
• Knowledge of company procedures for storage, handling and shipment of hazardous waste to comply with government regulations
• Basic welding skills
• Clean driving record
• General working knowledge of all aspects of industrial maintenance. Good mechanical and construction aptitude

Physical Demands

• Physical fitness to perform all functions of designated work areas
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 35#, frequently lift and/or move up to 50#
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
