Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician is part of a small team responsible for upholding the cleanliness and maintenance of apartment buildings. In this role, you will be heavily involved in general maintenance, working independently and professionally while observing all health and safety guidelines. Responsibilities may include painting, cleaning, basic plumbing, and repairs. Experience with a variety of tools and basic maintenance issues is required. Previous experience in apartment maintenance, carpentry, and/or knowledge of HVAC is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels, etc.)
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
  • Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows, etc.)
  • Undertake pest control activities such as spraying insecticide
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g., landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, etc.)
  • Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they meet health and safety standards
  • Other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Adherence to the company's mission and values in all aspects of the job

  • Good physical condition and strength, with a willingness to work overtime as part of an on-call emergency rotation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive background check as a condition of employment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance
  • Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time
