Maintenance Technician

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to oversee the upkeep of our facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and problem-solving skills to perform a wide range of tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs, while adhering to all safety guidelines. You will perform routine maintenance, respond to work orders promptly, and help ensure our buildings and equipment remain in optimal condition.
Responsibilities
- Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and repair of cultivation and manufacturing equipment, including HVAC systems, boilers, extraction machines, and grow lighting systems. Perform diagnostics and repairs on facility infrastructure, such as plumbing, electrical wiring, and ventilation systems. Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of life safety equipment, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and safety signage.
- Emergency Response: Remain on-call and available to respond promptly to facility emergencies, including system failures or safety issues, during and outside of regular work hours. Troubleshoot and resolve unexpected equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- General Maintenance Duties: Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on delivery vehicles. Handle general office maintenance tasks such as furniture repairs, painting, and light fixture replacements. Maintain the exterior of the facility, including groundskeeping and repairs to parking lots, sidewalks, or entryways. Address basic carpentry, plumbing, or mechanical issues that arise throughout the facility.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and adhere to a preventive maintenance schedule for all critical systems and equipment. Monitor and document equipment performance and maintenance activities. Collaborate with the Facility Coordinator to identify and implement improvements to maintenance protocols.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to regulatory requirements and Glass Meadows’ safety standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs in compliance with company policies and state regulations. Coordinate with third-party contractors as needed for specialized maintenance or inspections.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Support facility projects or initiatives, including the installation of new equipment or infrastructure upgrades. Assist other departments with maintenance-related needs to support cultivation and manufacturing operations.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, custodial property management, groundskeeping, or a similar role; experience in highly regulated environments, such as cannabis facilities, is advantageous.
- Basic technical skills and systems knowledge to maintain HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other building systems; experience with construction, general contracting, or as a licensed handyperson is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with facility maintenance, such as lifting, climbing, and manual labor.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP) are a plus; specific certification related to HVAC, electrical, or plumbing is advantageous.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (90+ pounds with assistance).
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying conditions, including exposure to seasonal weather and potential allergens.
- Basic knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and repairs.
- Understanding of workplace safety and hazard prevention practices.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to build solid working relationships with external providers for timely responses.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining a safe and efficient facility.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for projects, if needed.
- Use of personal vehicle for statewide travel; mileage and travel costs reimbursed.
- Must be at least 21 years old to comply with state regulations.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
