Description
The mission of Gaston County Parks and Recreation is to acquire, develop, maintain, and manage parks; efficiently manage public resources, and provide opportunities for citizens to participate in wholesome leisure activities.
Examples of Duties
- Prepares athletic fields for daily use (including weekends and evenings as needed).
- Cleans restrooms, picks up litter, performs routine park maintenance, empties trash cans, and other cleaning duties as needed.
- Provides landscaping duties including mowing, pruning, mulching, spraying, fertilization, leaf removal, and other duties as needed at parks and county ground sites.
- Provides routine maintenance on park equipment, landscaping equipment, and park structures as needed, including making and installing Gaston County street signs as assigned.
- Assists with park events.
- Daily maintenance of splash pad, including cleaning, inspecting, logging of all chemical levels and filtration.
- Snow removal/winter time ice melt of walkways at county properties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid NC Driver's License
Special Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Physical Requirements, and Other Factors
- Must have the ability to work outside in all temperatures.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to perform physical functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
