About the Role

The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of extensive plumbing, electrical, HVAC, custodial, building, and grounds maintenance duties at assigned County buildings.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks, including but not limited to repairing HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing repairs, carpentry work, painting, and maintaining lighting.
- Inspects and evaluates work performed by other custodians.
- Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming and mopping floors, cleaning and stocking restrooms, cleaning windows, and emptying trash.
- Performs grounds maintenance duties, including trimming shrubbery, mowing grass, raking leaves, sweeping walks, and insect control.
- Monitors safety and cleanliness of parking lots.
- Performs machinery maintenance and makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Operates a variety of equipment such as mechanic’s tools, carpentry tools, diagnostic tools, electrician’s tools, hand and power tools, vehicles, lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, edgers, and other lawn tools.
- Moves furniture and equipment.
- Monitors and enforces policies regarding the use of public buildings and parking lots.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma supplemented by one to two years of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing repair experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to perform basic physical activities and communicate effectively to carry out essential job duties.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move, and lift 50 lb. objects regularly.
- Correctable vision sufficient to read monitors, labels, and drive safely.
