Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This hands-on role responds to equipment breakdowns, completes scheduled maintenance, diagnoses mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, and works collaboratively with production teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production machines and plant facility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and complete scheduled and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and work orders; diagnose issues, replace or repair parts, test equipment, and make necessary adjustments.
- Safely use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment while detecting and reporting faulty operations or unusual conditions to supervision.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Support cross-functional teams, including production and sanitation, by providing technical guidance and maintenance expertise to resolve recurring issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts inventory documentation, and work order updates while participating in training and skill development initiatives.
- Perform calibration, verification, and basic maintenance of lab testing equipment to ensure accurate results.
Must-haves
- A high school diploma or GED
- Completion of a technical training program, trade school, or craft apprenticeship preferred
- A minimum of 4 years of manufacturing maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and prioritize multiple tasks
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance documentation systems
