SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Can read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
- Provides emergency repairs on production equipment to keep lines operational at all times.
- Performs scheduled maintenance and repairs of production equipment including replacement of failed components such as bearings, belts, motors, power/control lines, etc.
- Diagnostics problems and failures and repairs or replaces parts as required.
- Disassemble/assemble defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, using specifications and/or blueprints, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools.
- Adjust various types of devices and control systems.
- Understands facilities, systems, and component functions and relationships, and is competent in their troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of installing, troubleshot, and repairing electrical systems, including 480v and below, and control voltage/systems.
- Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience.
- Ammonia Refrigeration Experience Preferred.
- Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience.
- Experience in a fast paced, cold, wet production environment.
- Able to collaborate well with production line workers and supervisors, with a strong customer service mindset.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum five years of experience in an industrial maintenance capacity preferred.
- Food or Medical plant experience is preferred, as well as knowledge of and compliance with Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP), and food manufacturing best practices.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Mandatory ability to speak, understand, read and write in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS
- Must be computer literate with intermediate skills in Excel.
- Must have advanced knowledge/skills with forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
- NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work scheduled weekends and holidays.
