Maintenance Technician

About the role

Casco Community Action is a private nonprofit corporation offering various services to low-income children and families across ten counties in eastern North Carolina. The Maintenance Tech position supports the Child Development Centers (Head Start) by managing maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Completes maintenance tasks as directed, adhering to OSHA safety regulations.
• Maintains and repairs plumbing and electrical systems, replacing worn or defective parts.
• Maintains inventory of tools and equipment in good working order.
• Performs carpentry duties such as painting, furniture assembly, and repair.
• Moves furniture and other equipment as needed.
• Adjusts air vents and air handling filters.
• Repairs faucets and toilet valves.
• Conducts inventories of equipment, supplies, and products.
• Oversees the upkeep of playgrounds and other outdoor child activity spaces.

Requirements

• Three or more years of related experience, including construction experience.
• First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
• Valid background clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.

Skills

• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
• Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks.
• Good physical stamina and dexterity.
