About the role
Casco Community Action is a private nonprofit corporation offering various services to low-income children and families across ten counties in eastern North Carolina. The Maintenance Tech position supports the Child Development Centers (Head Start) by managing maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Completes maintenance tasks as directed, adhering to OSHA safety regulations.
- Maintains and repairs plumbing and electrical systems, replacing worn or defective parts.
- Maintains inventory of tools and equipment in good working order.
- Performs carpentry duties such as painting, furniture assembly, and repair.
- Moves furniture and other equipment as needed.
- Adjusts air vents and air handling filters.
- Repairs faucets and toilet valves.
- Conducts inventories of equipment, supplies, and products.
- Oversees the upkeep of playgrounds and other outdoor child activity spaces.
Requirements
- Three or more years of related experience, including construction experience.
- First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
- Valid background clearance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
Skills
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
- Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks.
- Good physical stamina and dexterity.
