About the Role

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the timely repair and preventative maintenance of plant equipment, including filling machines, metal detectors, case erectors, packers, sealers, pasteurizers, motors, pumps, and conveying equipment. Technicians must follow all established safety, GMPs, and environmental standards, as well as all federal, state, local, and company regulations, including OSHA, FDA, EPA, and SQF.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical breakdowns in manufacturing production equipment with the ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and resolve problems with minimal initial information or direction.
• Demonstrate intermediate troubleshooting methodology and apply technical knowledge to resolve issues.
• Serve as a technical resource, providing guidance and assistance to operations personnel.
• Work a flexible schedule as needed, including nights, weekends, and holiday shifts.
• Address symptoms of problems and identify root causes.
• Follow instructions through standard work orders and perform routine and repetitive tasks accurately.
• Check work for mistakes and ensure all tasks meet or exceed standards.
• Work safely and follow all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies; identify and report EHS issues in the plant.
• Follow all applicable Food Safety and Quality (FS&Q) policies; identify and report FS&Q issues and prevent improper tasks.
• Respond to maintenance calls and work orders promptly with a teaching mentality and positive demeanor; assist operations in solving issues and improving efficiencies.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement and reliability opportunities.
• Multi-task and shift priorities quickly while maintaining control, focus, and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
• Use strong analytical skills to challenge the status quo and drive innovation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-year Technical Trade school certification, military applicable certifications, vocational training, and/or Journeyman License preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in a food production/manufacturing environment, operating, repairing, and/or troubleshooting filling, packaging, and other processing equipment; dairy, food, and beverage industry experience preferred.
• Ability to work without assistance; recognized as a resource to others; able to translate complex nuances and improve processes.
• Experience with a combination of the following systems: pumps, mechanical drives, lubrication, fasteners, piping, proper tool use, motors, pneumatics, sensors, proximity switches, automatic valves, and other basic mechanical systems.
• Practical operation of power tools and maintenance shop equipment.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency in using technical manuals and precision measurement tools.
• Experience with work orders and CMMS/EAM systems in web-based computer applications.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb for up to 12 hours.
• Lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, overhead, and in very hot or cool environments.
• Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of plant personnel; ability to explain different points of view and listen effectively.

Schedule

2-2-3, 12-hour schedule: 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM, including nights, weekends, and holiday shifts as needed.

Pay

The salary range for this full-time position is $29.50 - $42.00 per hour, plus a bonus, $5,000 sign-on bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
