Maintenance Technician

About the role

This position assists in the maintenance of all plant processes in the assigned area, maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and productivity.

Status: Full Time (Day Shift or Night Shift)
Hours: 12-hour shift (6a-6p or 6p-6a)
Schedule: 2-2-3 rotating shifts (work 15 days per month)
Compensation: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience, plus a $2.00 night shift differential if applicable and a $750 night shift bonus.

Responsibilities

• Monitors activities in area of responsibility at all times during shift.
• Learns and applies new processes and procedures, trains, leads, and communicates effectively with co-workers.
• Evaluates and continuously improves processes to minimize changeover times.
• Ensures every detail and specification of each product is met.
• Follows work direction, completes/oversees record keeping, and performs required tests.
• Maintains spare parts inventory and notifies manager when running low.
• Maintains sanitation records, tracking chemical usage and concentration.
• Provides public relations tours and acts as company spokesperson when requested.
• Operates and maintains all equipment in assigned area, ensuring proper and efficient function.
• Performs preventative maintenance and repair work on equipment.
• Reports on non-scheduled days for major equipment maintenance or failures.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or required by supervisor/customer.
• Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices, quality production, and Food Safety guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical background, including knowledge of maintenance, plumbing, electrical, welding, heating, and refrigeration.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and company web-based programs.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records with math and science skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years’ experience in a production environment.
• Forklift certification.

Job Setting

This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with varying physical demands, including standing for extended periods, walking on occasionally slippery floors, and handling equipment or materials. Temperatures may fluctuate based on outside weather conditions. The work environment can be loud, requiring hearing protection (ear plugs). Employees must wear hairnets and refrain from wearing jewelry on the production floor. Alcohol is an ingredient in some products; working around alcohol is part of the environment.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds frequently.
• Extended standing on hard surfaces.
• Vision requirements: distance, close, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Frequently required to stand, talk, hear, use hands to finger, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Works in a production and warehouse environment with forklifts, equipment, and damp floors.
• Frequently exposed to working near mechanical parts and vibration.
